An Energy Management System (EMS) or Building Automation System (BAS) is only as effective as the field sensors, damper actuators, and control valves it commands. If a discharge air temperature sensor reads 4°F off or a VAV flow coefficient is miscalculated in software, the entire facility wastes energy and sacrifices occupant comfort.

Key EMS Calibration Procedures

• Temperature & Humidity Sensor Verification: Comparing digital sensor readouts against calibrated NIST-traceable reference thermometers and psychrometers.
• VAV Box Flow Calibration: Calibrating electronic flow pickups and controller "K-factors" to match actual hood airflow readings at minimum, design, and maximum setpoints.
• Actuator & Damper Stroke Checkout: Verifying 0-100% modulation, positive close-off, and tracking on outside air, return air, and relief dampers.
• Sequence of Operations Verification: Testing economizer changeover, morning warm-up/cool-down cycles, static pressure reset algorithms, and night setback transitions.
• Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Setup: Matching motor speed command percentages against actual shaft RPM and electrical current draws.
